here's a poem for all of you, translated from shokti chattujje's 'tar kachakachi'
I can take verse close
To the tree that is lonely
I can take my poetry, stark and heavy as stone,
To the tree
Like a disowned, runaway boy
in an unknown land
standing still and torn asunder,
But the germ of death
In his pain and poison,
… nobody calls love, if not benumbed wonder
Being blamed for being him
And if the cloth around his waist
Is pulled to bare him naked,
And if in loud laughter is said:
‘See the lunatic, see,
In crimson embarrassment
Why isn’t he?’
I can take poetry close to him
He who holds God, the beast,
Paradise and the woman in a cavity,
I can take my verse to these at least
